Dr Sketchy 7th April

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

The next Dr Sketchy is…

When: 7pm, Wednesday 7th April
Where: The Burlesque Lounge – upstairs, 267 William Street, Northbridge
Model: Lorelei Lita
Cost: $15 on the door

Have you ever fantasised about that gorgeous blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, and wished you could have seen her in the flesh?  Well wish no longer!  April sees the triumphant debut to the Dr Sketchy stage of one Ms Lorelei Lita – Sugar Blue Burlesque’s own Marilyn lookalike with curves guaranteed to smack you in the face and knock you right out.  Known as the sexiest minx to ever grace a Sugar Blue stage, Lorelei Lita will be posing and peeling just for you for a whole 2.5 hours!

It also must be sadly announced that the powerhouse behind the Perth branch of Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School, Trixi Tassels, is departing these fair, summery shores for the dirty streets of London and beyond.  But fear not!  The reigns will be ably taken over by fellow flame-haired beauty, Dimity the bar-wench!  So come along, have a drink and commiserate as Trixi takes over the mic to guide you through her final, scintillating Dr Sketchy session.

As an extra bonus, there will even be UNLUCKY DIPS for some unlucky punters who will win spot prizes.  What the hell is an unlucky dip?  All the leftover stuff from Trixi’s boudoir that she needs to ditch before catching her plane!

We also announce the exciting arrival of our newest sponsor, Kittie Chaos who specialise in glamorous, retro-inspired jewellery, clothing, homewares and more!  Kittie Chaos have kindly donated some super-awesome goodies for you to win on the night, so come along and be in to win some fantastic stuff.

Dr Sketchy 3rd March

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

The next Dr Sketchy is…

When: 7pm, Wednesday 3rd March
Where:
The Burlesque Lounge – upstairs, 267 William Street, Northbridge
Model: Lola The Vamp
Cost: $15 on the door

Ok kids, this is it.  Dr Sketchy Perth welcomes its biggest name in burlesque yet – the international burlesque starlet Lola The Vamp.  Flying into town for The Burlesque Ball on March 5th, we are very lucky to have snaffled her up to model for us.   I know I always say, “You won’t want to miss this” – but seriously, this time you will kick yourself if you do!  We have limited seating so if you are late you’re going to have to stand!

Don’t forget to bring down your entries for the ‘Check Out My Mug’ competition which could win you free entry to Dr Sketchy for the rest of the year!

Lola The Vamp is among the world’s premier showgirls. Tease-o-rama headliner, Penthouse Pet, tabloid television scandal. She’s the star of the tease, the damsel of deshabille, the princess of boom boom!

Her sensual and stunning shows have captured the world’s imagination with even Nick Cave declaring her landmark-collectors-edition-Penthouse-spread “Beautiful” during her support shows for Grinderman and Nick Cave solo.  Lola’s acts have graced stages in Hollywood, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Seattle, Portland, Edinburgh, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and many others.  This will be her first time in Perth and we are very glad to be welcoming her burlesque debut!

Much love always to our sponsors:

  • Source Cafe on the corner of Beaufort and Brisbane Streets – our favourite purveyors of organic food
  • Passchendales Accessories in London Court & Carillion Arcade – totally decadent vintage and burlesque-themed millinery, handbags and jewellery.

‘Check Out My Mug’ Competition

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Dr Sketchy’s needs some more receptacles for your pencil shavings so we’re running a little competition whereby you make them for us in exchange for eternal gratitude, glory and free entry to Dr Sketchy’s Perth for the rest of the year.

You can decorate your mug in any way you please – you can paint directly on it, wrap a sketch or other artwork on paper around it, sculpt on it or even make the whole mug yourself if you want.  You have total creative freedom.  They won’t be getting wet so they don’t have to be water proof.

Bring your entries along to the next session at The Burlesque Lounge on 3rd March or leave them at the Lounge if you can’t make it that night.  Don’t forget to attach a tag with your name, phone number and email address.  We will photograph all the entries and put them on the website where the public (that’s all you guys) get to vote on their favourite one.  The winner will be announced at the April session.

The only rule is there are no rules.  As long as your piece can hold pencil shavings and we can easily tip them out into the rubbish you can do what you like!

SketchyCon 2010 Needs Your Help

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

Last year saw the inaugural SketchyCon – a meeting of Dr Sketchy organisers from all around the world to network and discuss all things Sketchy!

This year there are plans afoot to make it even more exciting and to even bring over the founder of the first Dr Sketchy branch in Melbourne.  All these plans need some moolah though, and that’s where you come in!

If you want, you can pledge anything from $1 up and once you pledge $5 or more you’ll get Cool Stuff ™.  Yep, depending on how much you pledge, you will get anything from your name printed in the SketchyCon program to a signed copy of Molly Crabapple’s book, Scarlett Takes Manhattan or even free entry to Dr Sketchy for a year.  Totally worth it?  Hell yes!

I’m going to donate earnings from this Wednesday’s session so you can also help out just by turning up and sketching a beautiful lady.  Ain’t that just sweet?

xx Trixi xx

Here ya go!  I’ve just uploaded pics from the last session at BamBOO on 3rd January starring Mia Bella which also happened to be the first session for 2010!  What a banging start to the year.  We had 42 eager sketchers reclining in the lovely amphitheatre of BamBOO munching on woodfired pizza and sipping delicious cocktails prepared by our favourite bar tenders.

We’re back to our regularly scheduled venue of The Burlesque Lounge this year and have some super exciting models in store for you, not to mention Sugar Blue’s resident MC extraordinaire, Mr Diggy Bones.

Thanks very much to the talented Gregory Bruyer for being resident photographer on the night.  Enjoy!
