Monday 31st March 2008 saw the inaugural Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School Perth!

Over 40 art monkeys packed into the upstairs room at the Leederville Hotel to draw Trixi Tassels and be entertained by live performances by Trixi and the wicked A’dora Derriere, of Sugar Blue Burlesque.

All this was set to a scrumptious soundtrack of vintage jazz and blues classics such as ‘Chattanooga Choo Choo’, ‘Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But Me)’ and ‘In The Mood’. There was much bopping and jiving in the seats and a very restrained Trixi Tassels who had to sit perfectly still through all of this!

Two lucky punters won free passes to Burlesquercise and Go-Go Robics classes with Sugar Blue Burlesque. The 20 minute poses were up for prizes for the best drawing and the best drawing incorporating a mythical or fantasy figure. Our two winners were definitely deserving of the Back To Burlesque show passes they won! It was definitely hard to judge though with some amazing artwork being produced all around the room.

There will be more prizes up for grabs next time to reward more of you awesome artists!

We’re also going to rearrange the room a little next time to ensure that more people get a closer view of the model. (A heater or two wouldn’t go amiss either!)

The next date is Monday 21st April at 7pm, so put it in your diaries now!
